My writing reflects the many chapters of my professional and personal journey. From memoir and poetry to children's literature, educational leadership, and collaborative publications, each book represents an exploration of learning, growth, creativity, and the human experience.
Stories and Creative Work
"The Magical Fish of Silveira" is a heartwarming tale of an unexpected friendship between a swimmer and a curious little fish in the ocean pool of Silveira, on Terceira Island in the Azores. With each swim, their bond grows, turning routine moments into magical encounters filled with wonder and joy. Perfect for children ages 5-11 to read independently, this beautifully told story can also be shared as a read-aloud for younger listeners. Through themes of mindfulness, connection with nature, and the beauty of simple moments, it invites readers to discover the enchantment hidden in everyday life and the vast, mysterious ocean.
This first edition is available in English, with an additional bilingual version in English and Portuguese and a multilingual hardcover edition.
The Art Behind The Magical Fish
The illustrations in The Magical Fish of Silveira began as original paintings inspired by the coastline, ocean life, and natural beauty of Terceira Island. The story grew from these images and from a desire to create a book that celebrates curiosity, connection, and the wonder of the natural world.

Moments in the Heart- A Collection of Love Poems
I began writing poetry as a way of paying attention. Through the process of listening, reflecting, and finding words for meaningful experiences, I discovered that poetry can deepen our connection to ourselves, to others, and to the moments that shape our lives.
This collection of forty-five poems represents special moments and memories of love gathered throughout my life. I hope it encourages readers to explore their own poetic expression and uncover the voice of their heart.
In Breaking Free in Zambia, I share the story of leaving behind a familiar life in Oregon, and moving to Zambia to teach IB Theatre and drama. What began as an overseas teaching opportunity became a journey of growth, courage, and self-discovery.
