Ramaka’s Theatre Teaching Hall of Fame
Ms. Ramaka taught IGCSE drama and IB Theatre from 2007-2009 in Zambia, IB Theatre and Fine Art in Hungary from 2009-2010 and IB Theatre in Morocco from 2010-2012. All of the dramatic photos on this website were taken during this time. She also taught theatre and fine art as an elementary and middle school teacher in Oregon from 1993-2007 both as a separate subject and as she integrated the arts into her English language lessons. Today you can find her former high school students on LinkedIn living wonderful lives. For this website, she reached out to them and asked them to reflect on their experience with hindsight and how it impacted the life they are living now.
Here is what they said:

I was always looking forward to Ms. Ramaka’s class. Outside of the wealth of knowledge she had to offer us, she allowed her students to explore their creative identities in the safest environments, allowing us the freedom to tap into the deepest and complex sides of ourselves. Her class helped me develop my trust bond with my instincts. I apply that fearlessness and boldness to every aspect of my life; from daily decision making, to producing. Being in her class allowed me to further nurture my love for storytelling, beit from improv exercises she made us do, to the way that she would immerse us into the characters we were cast to play for our school performances. Using journaling, costume and prop design exercises and rehearsals, being cast as both Policewoman and TV Show Host for Romeo & Winifred helped me understand world-building in a way I never had before. What’s the arc? What is the purpose of this character? What is the subtext? What is the message? These are all teachings that I apply when I produce and write my films, commercials, documentaries, and scripts
